The 45-year-old, who has reportedly been unwell and was seen coughing many times during his protest yesterday, slept on a quilt that served for a mattress and wrapped up in several blankets. His slippers were placed by his side.
He slept a little before midnight but was up before daybreak, at about 5.20 am, and immediately launched a scathing attack on Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde.
The skies were still dark as Mr Kejriwal said, "How can Shinde sleep so comfortably when there is so much crime in Delhi, women are not safe? We will not let him sleep."
He also accused Mr Shinde of playing "dictator" and alleged that protesters who had spent the night at the spot had been denied basic amenities. "There are no toilets here. Yesterday they let me use the one in Rail Bhavan but today they did not," he alleged, adding that his ministers had pushed mobile toilets into the barricaded zone.
Mr Kejriwal also said that the police had not allowed any food or water to be brought to the protest site, where he spent last night along with six ministers and about 200 AAP leaders and workers.
He said many more people were waiting to join the protest but they were not being allowed in. At the barricades that the police have erected to cordon off the area, a line of people stood this morning, but were not allowed by the police to cross over.
Mr Kejriwal has warned that if his demand for suspension of five Delhi Police cops is not met by Sunday, Republic Day, "we will fill Rajpath with lakhs of people."
