Passengers refuse to leave plane after flight is cancelled

Mumbai At least 60 upset passengers in Mumbai have refused to get off a Jet Airways plane in protest after a technical snag forced the airline to cancel the flight to Singapore.

The flight was to have taken off from Mumbai at 9.50 this morning. Passengers complained that after waiting for three hours on the plane, they were asked to get off.

They also alleged that the private airline has refused to put them on other flights to Singapore.

They have now been on the aircraft for almost eight hours.

Many of these passengers had connecting flights from Singapore and say they can't fly out now as they do not have visas for Singapore.

Some passengers may need to wait three more days before they get their connecting flight from Singapore, which means that they will have to wait in the Mumbai airport, since transit visas in Singapore reportedly last only 24 hours.

However, Jet Airways in a statement said that the flight took off for Singapore after a four-hour delay.
