People must join our protest, says Arvind Kejriwal, urges cops to join AAP
New Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was today stopped by the Delhi Police from driving up to the Home Ministry where he planned to spend the day demonstrating against what he describes as inaction against a corrupted and compromised police force.

Mr Kejriwal disembarked from his blue Wagon-R near Rail Bhawan, and delivered an impromptu speech in which he attempted to justify the decision to demonstrate against both the police and the Centre.

"Some say I am an anarchist, yes I am. There is lawlessness in every home in the city. Today I'll spread disorder in the Home Minister's house," he said.

Mr Kejriwal says there is no need to wait for the results of an enquiry that will establish whether three police officers are guilty of dereliction of duty, as alleged by two ministers in the Delhi government. "Why wait for an enquiry?" the chief minister asked. "just a probe is not enough. Someone must be held accountable," he said. He then went on to urge cops to quit the police force and join his Aam Aadmi Party.

Mr Kejriwal said his Law Minister, Somnath Bharti, had not erred by asking the police to raid a neighbourhood in South Delhi to locate alleged prostitutes and drug dealers.

Mr Bharti conducted a midnight "raid" last Wednesday and was caught on camera arguing with policemen who said they could not raid homes without a warrant or arrest women after sunset.

Four Ugandan women have filed a police case saying that they were beaten up and molested by a group of people, allegedly those who were with the Law Minister, and forced to deliver urine samples for drug testing at Delhi's AIIMS hospital. They tested negative for drugs.

In another case, minister Rakhi Birla has said that the police ignored her request to punish a family responsible for a dowry-related death.
