Popular messaging platform Viber has updated its Windows Phone app to bring new features and performance improvements.
Viber 4.0 for Windows Phone adds 'Seen' status that lets users know their messages have been viewed, and a 'Last online' timestamp that lets users know when contacts were last seen on Viber. Photo handling has been improved to include the ability to add description to photos and improved quality of photo thumbnails in conversation.
The app brings an enhanced notification system with users getting the ability to hide notification content, if needed. Also included are new Viber notification sounds that can be used for incoming push notifications.
There's good news for Emoji fans, with Viber 4.0 for Windows Phone bringing Emoji to emoticon translation to ensure cross platform compatibility. The update also brings the Viber sticker market to Windows Phone.
The app also includes other general improvements, including changes that make resuming and loading the app much faster. However, there's no sign of Viber Out on the Windows Phone app yet.
In December, Viber announced the launch of Viber Out, a service that lets Viber users call any mobile or landline number across the world for a fee. Viber Out was launched on Viber for Android, iPhone and desktop, with the company saying Windows Phone users will receive the feature at a later date.
